Please vote for Mary Smith for the GESD #40 School Governing Board November 6 2012
As a parent, I am keenly aware that each child has unique needs, I know personally how helpful (and unhelpful) a school can be in meeting those needs. I have a personal understanding of what the school district can do to communicate with parents, and the little things that can make a difference.
My only interest in being on the governing board is to help our schools achieve the level of success that I know is possible. GESD is already a great district and I know that we can be even greater with creativity, focus, and cooperation.

The main issues to me are...
-Teacher retention. We need to create an environment that makes our great teachers feel valued and loyal to the Glendale School District.
-Educational Programs. Many students leave the district because we aren't meeting their educational needs. By providing options we can serve the particular talents, interests and needs of all the students in our district, not just those that fit an arbitrary mold. Thus, not only giving families a reason to stay, but becoming a district of choice.
-Creating an environment of cooperation. There are many different perspectives involved in the school district, but we all have the same goal: to make our schools great. Cooperation and communication are essential to that goal.
